Conner with an E, Burks without one. It's misspelled more than you'd think.
I have recently graduated from the Grady College of Journalism at the University of Georgia. During my time at UGA, I gained hands-on experience in many facets of journalism.
With a broad spectrum Journalism degree, I took relevant coursework pertaining to broadcasting, producing, photography, videography, writing, multi-platform storytelling and communication law among others.
UGA also presented a host of extracurricular opportunities. One that I thoroughly enjoyed was WUOG, the college radio station. I was able to be a part of a live, sports radio show for a year and a half that provided a chance to get real experience being on-air. As our show progressed we were able to add call-ins, intros and outros and host guests from remote locations. Guests included World Series champion Darrel Chaney, former Georgia quarterback DJ Shockley and Braves Radio Network's Ben Ingram.
Aside from school opportunities I've also been fortunate enough to intern with multiple media outlets. Including The CW69, Seacrest Studios and 680 The Fan in Atlanta. I was also able to intern with Athens' NPR affiliate WUGA 91.7 FM. All provided me with diverse learning environments that challenged me to go above and beyond while learning about the media industry.
In my free time, I enjoy many things but most consistently I'm watching sports, reading and getting outside. I love climbing mountains, I've climbed the tallest mountain in six states and plan to add more.
I'm confident I can contribute in multiple ways to an employer. I can provide on-air content, as well as produce for on-air talent. I can write for various platforms. I'm experienced with social media and can bring a different perspective and ideas as a recent college student. I can produce online content, having experience with Microsoft Office and the Adobe Cloud. I have a strong work ethic and am excited about any opportunities that are afforded to me.
